Reading this article by Malcom Nance in the strange "Small Wars Journal" just makes me want to puke.
The above article mentions Tuol Sleng in Cambodia. This is the torture camp that Khmer Rouge employed, often seen in conjunction with The Killing Fields. I've also been there, and one cannot ever forget such a visit. Realizing that the USA actually employs the techniques described on the walls there is utterly atrocious - I have serious problems describing my feelings without resorting to pages and pages of profanities and wishing of imminent gruesome death to all involved.

(Here's a flicker photo set of Tuol Sleng. Have a browse. Tuol Sleng == Guantanamo.)
Jesus Fucking Christ, folks.
Please also take the time to read at least some of the 42 pages of this scholarly paper (pdf), titled "DROP BY DROP: Forgetting the history of water torture in U.S. Courts". The idea is that USA has several times been part of courts where people conducting waterboarding has been convicted harshly, up to life (I've also read somewhere that you gave the death penalty to several Japanese soliders for performing exactly waterboarding). Now all of a sudden you idiots employ the exact same tactics on your enemies, arguing for some insane reason that it is all perfectly legal, nice and ethical, and next to healthy for the victims. It is all thoroughly documented in the paper. It is revolting.
Your ugly leaders (and probably Jack Bauer in the "patriotic" 24-series) has destroyed your moral grounds and ethical foundations.

You have become scum.
I only hope that you some day will realize the HORRORS of your absolutely fucked up ways, and come back to the "western world" begging for forgiveness - which you shall not get, at least not from me.
This piece of history I shall always point to when USA is mentioned.
Quoting from Malcolm Nance's thorough article his three main points (sincerely hoping that he won't mind the context):
" There is No Debate Except for Torture Apologists
1. Waterboarding is a torture technique. Period.
...
2. Waterboarding is not a simulation.
Waterboarding is a controlled drowning that, in the American model, occurs under the watch of a doctor, a psychologist, an interrogator and a trained strap-in/strap-out team. It does not simulate drowning, as the lungs are actually filling with water. There is no way to simulate that. The victim is drowning. How much the victim is to drown depends on the desired result (in the form of answers to questions shouted into the victim’s face) and the obstinacy of the subject. A team doctor watches the quantity of water that is ingested and for the physiological signs which show when the drowning effect goes from painful psychological experience, to horrific suffocating punishment to the final death spiral.
Waterboarding is slow motion suffocation with enough time to contemplate the inevitability of black out and expiration –usually the person goes into hysterics on the board. For the uninitiated, it is horrifying to watch and if it goes wrong, it can lead straight to terminal hypoxia. When done right it is controlled death. Its lack of physical scarring allows the victim to recover and be threaten with its use again and again.
3. If you support the use of waterboarding on enemy captives, you support the use of that torture on any future American captives. ..."
The following video is from MSNBC's Morning Joe, broadcast on October 19, 2007.
Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, "Extraordinary rendition", "enhanced interrogation techniques" and only the devil himself knows what else you folks have been up to. The horror. When are you ordinary Americans going to tell your SICK leaders to stop?
Dudes - I come exceptionally close to want you all to die horribly, knowing all these facts. What do you think all those "crazy muslims" want?
You are to thank yourself. Seriously - you are.
Update, Jan/Feb 2008: USA finally finally acknowledges that it has waterboarded at least three persons, and defends its practice, stating that it might be used again. An interesting observation from Jennifer Daskal, senior counterterrorist counsel for Human Rights Watch: "Under what circumstances would the United States ever accept as legal one of its citizens being strapped to a board and suffocated with water?".
You double-moral assholes.
Update October 2008: I hope you all saw the documentary "Torturing Democracy" that apparently aired on "PBS Stations Nationwide" on 17th of October. If you didn't, here's a search on YouTube for some snippets, here's the site for the documentary, here you can watch the entire documentary, and here you can "read it" (full annotated transcript with hundreds of references, direct link to pdf here). It should be compulsory education for your children. I mean, you are PROUD of this, aren't you? This isn't something that you'll need to hide away from your next generations, right?
You gave Japanese persons the death penalty for performing waterboarding on Americans in the trials after World War II. How will you go about now, after YOU have authorized all these interrogation tactics as "good to go"? Check this piece out:
Here's something more to read for you, from NY Times.
Check out these movies: Taxi to the Dark Side (torrent), The Road to Guantanamo (torrent). I'll add more as they come - it is nice to know that these acts by The US-of-A won't ever be forgotten by anyone. I will tell everyone I know about it. I will explain to my future children how America is a nation employing torture on grand scales, just like the worst regimes on earth (of course, you also have the death penalty).
I get physically ill, I want to throw up, by watching this, by reading about it. I just can not get myself to understand this: **AMERICA**, a democracy, is going about doing such extreme violations of .. EVERYTHING?? And understanding that many of you absolute assholes are even CONSIDERING voting in for presidential power that party that thrashed you into this, makes me even firmer in my understanding and knowledge about you: Most Americans have exceptionally low ethics and morals, and in addition are exceedingly dumb, having very low IQ. There is simply no other explanation for such completely unetical and irrational behaviour.
As I mentioned: You are to thank yourself.

Our healthy leaders don't stop until the war's finished. Not a nanosecond sooner or later. That's why we voted for them.
@Scunner: I guess you are one of those "patriotic Americans". Your thinking is truly amazing. No.. horrifying.
What you basically say is that there will NEVER be a time on earth where we actually can handle differences without mass murders involved?
Of course, you might be right - but I certainly don't hope so.
And regarding this war: when will it ever be "finished"? You really don't get it? This war will NEVER finish when even the educated, (basically) secular, rich sides of the conflict won't lay down their weapons.
Regarding "we voted for them": do you believe your lovely republicans will be voted in next time? Because they won't. Even the insane 50% of America are starting to see some of the picture that you don't.
Check out The Hawks' own organization PNAC @ http://www.newamericancentury.org/.
The whole idea behind that organization is chilling to the bones.
Check out the signers of the earlier letters, e.g. http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm.
Those same guys were taken pretty much directly into office when Bush took over. And the wording and the logic in that letter is basically what was used as the official stance right away.
But obviously, reading your web page, you love each and every one of those dudes. The global hatred of America these days is NOTHING compared to "how it used to be", so LETS JUST MOVE ON!!
The global hatred of America is based on the same aspects of any hatred. A narrow minded vision of the world around oneself and a degree of ignorance. Your tedious ability to simply lump every American in either the "sane" camp (the left) and the "insane" camp (the right)is very telling. Quite the contrary, the American mainstream does maintain a rather dynamic dialogue when it comes to domestic and geo-politics. A quick look at the rise and fall of politicians during the primary process would well illustrate this.
The extreme left and extreme right are each a very vocal minority. Most in America find themselves somewhere in the middle with a lean one way or the other.
And Americans aren't a culture of slavering warmongers any more than you are a warmongering viking with a draakaar in your garage. The two ideas are equally comical and naive.
@subadei: You didn't give a response to the issue at stake. The point of this post is really not the "global hatred of America", but that USA employs fucking torture. Dodging that by pathetically whining about the effects of your practices is so lame that it's provoking.
The left and right issue: I don't find 50% of Americans insane, I find close to 80%-90% of them insane. It is just that I haven't talked to one single non-insane American that's voting right. I actually find it hopeful that your entire country is turning leftward, finally thinking about your poor, sick, elderly and non-whites. You should check up the term "Scandinavian model", and see what that actually employs in regard to business competitiveness etc. But I definitely digress.
PS: In another blog post of mine, a Chilean friend commented that "As Chilean I'd prefer that one referred to USA as "North-America" and not "America". Those swine can't speak for the whole continent! :)". I just wanted to forward the comment, since you write "America" all the time.
PPS: .. and no, I don't have a drakkar in my garage, but I do own a 31" sailing boat!
